Gorkhi Terelj National Park, Tuul river

This site is located a few miles from the Gorkhi Terelj site in the Khentey mountains. The Tuul river valley in this area is surrounded by small hills and valleys with heavily-grazed steppe vegetation with intermittent rock outcroppings. Along the river, the riparian zone is characterized by rich friable soils, thick grass and patchy forest of Polar (Populus tremula) and Willow (Salix sp.) about 10 m in height. It is also a popular site for weekend campers from Ulaan Baatar.
