Mongolia 1999
Ulaan Tsutgalan

Located in the Khangay mountains, this steppe valley with its ubuiquitus rocky outcroppings was surrounded by higher pine forest covered mountains. Running through the valley was a steep canyon cut by the Orkhon river along which were stands of pine, Poplar, and Willow.

This area is a fairly popular tourist so we were able to set up in some of the cabins along with our usual tent camp.
